The Natural Fit

Your Waterfront Story Is Missing a Chapter

The Claramount Club already curates world-class experiences for its guests — art, dining, fitness. Sailing is the natural next piece.

🎨

You Curate Experiences

From Coach-Haus fitness to PECish bakery to artist retreats with established teaching artists — you already know how to partner with local specialists to elevate the guest experience.

🏖️

You Own the Waterfront

A six-acre estate on Picton Harbour with kayaking, paddleboarding, lakeside fire pits, and a 500-foot boardwalk. But no sailing — yet.

We're Steps Away

Happy Sailing operates from Picton Harbour — a short walk down the boardwalk from The Claramount. Your guests can stroll from breakfast to the boat without a car.

📰

Condé Nast Traveler named Prince Edward County a top destination in North America for 2026 — and Happy Sailing was featured in the article. The timing is right to add something no one else in the County is offering.

Who We Are

Sail Canada Certified. Small Groups. Real Experience.

Happy Sailing is a certified sailing academy based in Prince Edward County, offering liveaboard cruising courses on Lake Ontario.

Happy Sailing crew at golden hour

We teach people to sail — properly. Our courses are certified by Sail Canada, the national governing body for sailing education. Every course is capped at four students for truly hands-on instruction, from Basic Cruising all the way through Advanced.

We also run courses in The Exumas, Bahamas — giving students the option to learn in the Caribbean at a fraction of the usual cost. But our home base is Picton Harbour, right on your doorstep.

More Than Wine & Dinner — An Experience They'll Talk About

Prince Edward County is famous for wine, food, and charm. Sailing adds something guests can't get anywhere else in the region.

A Shared Adventure

There's something about being on the water together — learning the ropes, feeling the wind, working as a team. It's an experience that brings people closer in a way that a wine tasting or spa visit simply can't replicate.

Whether it's a scenic half-day sail or a multi-day learn-to-sail course, couples leave with something real — new skills, shared stories, and the kind of memories that stick.

  • Half-day scenic sails — no experience needed
  • Multi-day learn-to-sail courses for a deeper challenge
  • Pair with Claramount dining at The Foundry or Delphine
  • Walk to the boat from your room — no car, no hassle

Sample Package: The County Sailing Escape

2-night Claramount stay + half-day scenic sail for two + dinner at The Foundry + optional pool & fitness access. Ideal for anniversaries, birthdays, or a weekend that's anything but ordinary.

For Teams & Retreats

Get Your Team Out of the Boardroom and onto the Water

Sailing is one of the most effective team-building experiences there is — it demands communication, trust, and real-time collaboration.

🧭

Real Collaboration

Sailing requires everyone to play a role — trimming sails, reading the wind, calling manoeuvres. It builds trust and communication faster than any conference room exercise.

🏢

Boardroom to Boat

Your meeting space hosts up to 24 people. After a morning strategy session at The Claramount, the team walks down the boardwalk for an afternoon on the water.

🏠

Stay Together

Taylor House sleeps 8–10 with full kitchen and living areas. Combine with Lakeside Rooms for larger groups. End the day at lakeside fire pits with the whole crew.

A corporate retreat at The Claramount with a sailing session creates the kind of shared experience that actually changes how teams work together — and it happens in one of the most beautiful settings in Ontario.

The Experiences

Two Ways to Get on the Water

From a casual half-day sail to a multi-day certification course — there's an experience for every guest.

Sail & Unwind

Scenic

A relaxed half-day on Lake Ontario aboard our Bavaria 36 yacht. Morning or afternoon departures from Picton Harbour. Swim stops, local provisions, and stunning County shoreline views.

No experience necessary. Perfect for couples, small groups, or guests looking for something memorable without the commitment of a full course.

Half day · 4–6 guests · No experience needed
Why This Works

A Partnership That Fits Your Model

Zero operational burden for The Claramount — just a new experience your guests will love.

Steps From Your Door

We operate from Picton Harbour, connected to your property by the boardwalk. Guests walk to the boat — no transfers, no logistics, no friction.

Proven Partnership Model

You already work with Coach-Haus, PECish, and local artists. Sailing fits naturally into your curated experience roster — same model, new category.

First of Its Kind in PEC

No hotel or club in Prince Edward County — or possibly beyond — currently offers a sailing experience partnership. This would be a genuine first.

Zero Cost, Zero Risk

Happy Sailing handles all instruction, equipment, safety, and logistics. The Claramount simply recommends the experience to guests — via concierge, packages, or marketing.

Extended Stays & Higher Spend

Guests who book multi-day sailing courses need accommodation. A learn-to-sail package naturally extends a weekend into a 3–4 night stay.

Old Soul, New Era

Sailing is one of the oldest forms of adventure — reimagined as a modern, accessible experience. It fits your ethos perfectly: heritage with a fresh perspective.
