Service Description

Our Start Keelboat Sailing Course is built for individuals who are serious about sailing. We take novice students and build their skills over multiple sessions from in class learning to on the water practical skill building. You will receive (by mail) your course packet  for the Ashore Knowledge portion  with Basic Cruising Skills by Gillian West, your student workbook and resources to help guide you through self-guided learning (4 hours estimated time). You will have access to your instructor by e-mail, video chat and over the phone. When you have completed your Ashore Knowledge, you will  begin your Afloat Knowledge training over two, 6 hour sessions on the water and a final exam at the end of the second day (2 hours alotted). Successful candidates will be able to act as competent crew on a sailing vessel up to 12 meters. There are no prerequisites to take this course but a good attitude will go a long way! Successful Start Keelboat graduates will have exclusive access to our Sailing Club. You will be able to book time on the boat with your instructor to take the lead and practice your skills. You will be able to choose your sail plan for the day, choose your anchorage and enjoy independent sailing time with the safety of your instructor close-by to lend advice and guidance.
